Diabetes Education Program


The Diabetes Education Program is available to any Anishnawbe Mushkiki Clinic member who has diabetes or pre-diabetes. There is a nurse and a dietician that can help you to take control of your diabetes. We offer one-to-one counseling sessions as well as a 4-session Learning to Live with Diabetes group program.

We are able to assist you with various areas of your diabetes care such as:

-        Nutrition counseling

-        Meal planning

-        Food label reading

-        Tools to prepare healthier, balanced meals

-        Understanding how diabetes works

-        Medications

-        How to deal with high and low blood sugars

-        How to reach your blood sugar targets

-        How to use your glucometer and logbook

-        Healthy weights

-        Sharing Circles to talk about your diabetes
